Translation Work Bench in Salesforce

In Salesforce, we can use Translation Workbench to maintain the translated values for metadata and data labels within the Salesforce org. You can specify the languages for translation. You can also assign translators for each of the languages. At the same time, you can manage the translated values for any of the Salesforce supported languages. Translators are capable of maintaining the translations directly through the workbench. You can also export the translation files for bulk translation imports. This is a powerful feature, as it allows the Salesforce admin to customize the languages as per the organizational requirements. There are many regions across the globe, who doesn’t use English as the official language, for the users of those regions, this feature is a complete boon.

Enabling the translation workbench

To enable the translation, we need to enable the translation workbench first. This can be done easily by following the few steps mentioned below.

  • Login to your Salesforce Org, Setup -> Translation Workbench -> Translation Setting.

  • Now click on the add button, to add the desired language. The added language will be assigned to the user.

  • In case, if we want to add the translation of any of the salesforce components such as custom field names, global values, etc. We can do this by going to Setup ->  Translation Workbench -> Translate. Add the required translation here.
  • In case you are looking to override the language of any of the components which are in any package then simply, go to Setup -> Translation Workbench -> Override.

You must note that the package should support the language in which the translation will be done. Once the managed package is created, the translation setting cannot be disabled.
